Harding Lake may be covered with ice but the popular summer recreation area will be a hot topic tonight at the Department of Natural Resources offices on Airport Way.

Alaska State Parks will be hosting an open house at 7:30 p.m. for the public to review improvements planned for Harding Lake State Recreation Area next summer. State parks is planning almost $1 million worth of upgrades at the recreation area 45 miles southeast of Fairbanks.

Among the improvements are a new boat launch, a new dump station, better parking arrangements and smoother traffic flow, said Anna Plager, state parks superintendent for the Northern Region.

Take a look around, what is happening to our world, our environment. Evolution, the ability to adapt to a changing environment. You need to be in harmony with your environment. As you affect the area you occupy, it also affects you. All of the hostility in system is contagious to the point of our elected officials thumbing their noses at the oath they took to protect, our constitution. Those words hammered out by our forefathers. Civilization was not a new concept when this was conceived and whatever reason the American Public does not feel that they are just as responsible for what is happening, as their elected government, is beyond me.

The ability to generate kindness, caring, compassion and a "greener" way of life can be just as contagious. If you go into any environment with a lighter attitude, other people feel that, other life feels that. Plants and animal thrive when given care and appreciation. Respect is a two way street. What you give them, you get back. Global corporations do not feel that way, it is the global government that all you lethargic, bud drinking, Monday night Football couch potatoes are allowing to run this world. Is there higher interest? Say the Illuminati, Knights Templar…? A hand full of greedy elite that are into "world domination!" Who knows? It would be nice to see at least one piece of good news in the media sometimes. Oh, not that I suggest there is any kind of control or censorship there.

Okay so here it is… "The end is near" and as I have found, to every end is a new beginning. Our earth is a living entity, if you look at the globe at night with all the centers of light radiating out, it looks like mold on bread. As mankind has wowed us with atomic bombs and world wars and these other police keeping policies the governments feel obliged to butt into. Nature gets a rumble or eruption and mans might is dwarfed. If we are like a virus on this planet, it will heal herself spiritually out of respect "Mother Earth". We are an insignificant speck in the larger plan of the universe. We are all part of the same ride, enjoy it while you are here. For those of you being oppressed and prosecuted, learn to "dance in the rain!" If you know you are right, know that Karma has it’s own consequences.

Well, 2012, end of the Mayan long count calendar, actually, it’s the beginning, they counted backwards from there. The earth will go back through the equatorial plane of the galaxy. By some peoples thinking it is like rolling over the odometer in your car, the count starts at zero again. Your mind is a powerful organ, you use it to create your own environment or reality. A place you can be Happy.

Don't forget that we have an exercise class Mon-Thur from 4:30-5:30 now. We changed the time due to the seniors not wanting to be out so late. Please come and join us and make it a fun time. Salcha Fair Association meeting @ Salcha Fairgrounds rescheduled to October 30th 7:00 PM

The health dept. will be at the Senior Center on October 24th from 10:30 till noon to give flu shots. Bring your medicaid or medicare cards with you. If you are not a senior, the cost will be on a sliding scale. Low income will not have to pay. Call me if you know of someone that is house-bound and can't get out. The nurse will go to their home. Fairbanks North Star Borough To Test New Telephone Warning System

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 14, 2007, Fairbanks, AK- The Fairbanks North Star Borough will be testing a new Community Notification System (CNS) in the Salcha area. The test will be conducted on Friday, August 31^st at 10:00 AM.

.The telephone-based CNS will be used in conjunction with other warning systems to provide rapid and geographically targeted information by telephone to the public about impending dangers such as fires and floods and include instructions from emergency services about the actions residents may need to take in response to the danger. The system may also be used for non-emergency wide area notifications such as Amber Alerts.

“This new system was acquired in response to citizen’s concerns about receiving timely evacuation information following incidents such as the Boundary Fire in 2004”, according to Barry Jennings, the Fairbanks North Star Borough’s Director of Emergency Operations.

The system extracts telephone information for the designated warning area from the Borough’s 9-1-1 database.

The Salcha area residents who will receive test notifications live within the area which extends from the Boundary Subdivision to Stringer Road.

Work day at fair Saturday July 28 about 1pm (salcha time)

I just wanted to let the community know that not only did we get vandalized on Saturday July 21. But on Monday July 22 after the State Troopers had come out and taken pictures and taken the spray paint cans that had their fingerprints all over them. We were robbed of 30 bales of hay that we had set up on the stage for future use. You know if someone needed the bales of hay that bad all they would have to do is ask us. We are all volunteers and have put a lot of time and effort into making this a nice place for the community to enjoy. But because of not having any one person who has a paid position. We can not afford to have someone on a regular basis to come and maintain the grounds. Therefore, it is the community's responsibility to look after, To clean up after themselves. and to not let their animals run amuck and poop wherever , with out scooping!. We all have kids that like to run around barefoot, which is a rare opportunity for all of us up here in this wonderful state. I would hate to have them stepping in crap!! We would like to see the community enjoy the grounds, but we would also like everyone to use a little common sense and respect when using the grounds. After all that has happened this last week I felt I needed to say this.

We have events coming up and will have the grounds ready for community functions soon. We all hate the idea of "Big Brother" watching, but if anyone has access to surveillance equipment that they could donate, it would help keep the vandalism to a minimum.

Just another example of "No good deed goes unpunished" The fair association brought water to the community by private donations from the family of Jake Partridge, a playground through grant money from the state and a place for people to meet and enjoy the outdoors, for the most part, its a thankless job, when it comes to the total defacing of all we have tried to provide to the community, the attitude of "why try" come to mind. If Salcha as a community does not want these amenities then fine.

Work day at the Fairgrounds

We will be planting flowers, doing some cosmetic repairs and putting up tarps plus anything else that we can find do-able. We are looking for new members for board positions and committee leaders, projects like the Easter Egg hunt, Break-up bonfire, the Fair it self, ground improvements, community center grants and research, look ya all, Salcha does not get its fair share of the revenues the borough collects out here. If we do not request help. we won't get those benefits we pay taxes for, if you haven't noticed, everything is taxed these days through registration fees to park and recreation fees. If the Assembly isn't asked, they will not just jump up and say "Hey... let's do something nice for Salcha." So anyway if you want to jump in and make our part of the woods a great place to live, show us your face over at the Fairgrounds. I think we will be starting about noon. Meet folks and have a good time.

No new Drama, as we enter into the season that rewards us for putting up with the winters up here, don't get me wrong winter offers it's own beauty, let us look forward to a great Summer. The Seniors and the Fair Association have projects planed for facility improvement. As non-profit organizations, everyone who pitches in to make thing happen are volunteers. We are looking for community minded, people orientated, vision sharing individuals that want to make Salcha a family friendly place to live. For your kids, grandkids and those folks that visit, let us make out part of the woods a good place to live.

Dave has been working to get a place set up to move back on to his property, he had started a cabin but ran out of time when the snow flew last year, the materials and furnishing to go into the cabin burnt with his shop. Dave was diagnosed with M.S. in 1991, he has been trying to keep his life in order to rest comfortably in his later years, as we all would like to do. He is a hard worker and his condition really takes its toll at the end of a hard day. As Alaskan's, and more importantly as Salchan's let's give our community member a helping hand.

The State of Alaska is no different that California when it comes to this. The government has encroached into the family, remember anyone saying " give them a inch, they will take a mile." Well, they got more than a inch so far, pretty much a arm and a leg. I will be shutting down soon, much to our local governments delight... a moment of silence for Joe Vogler ... Most stories of patriots and heroes are about people that were thought to be outlaws and criminals to the ruling authority of the time.

Want to stay a head of the game? If you can lie and cheat and have a hard time understanding ethics, you to can serve the agencies that have brought this country to a police state. Do you have your papers on you to prove you exist? Doesn't your mere presents confirm that?

Saturday March 24th is the Salcha Senior Bingo and Turkey dinner. This is off of Johnson Road. Call for directions. Tell all your friends, family and co-workers.

Another Salcha home lost to Fire

The old Canaday Road Dairy burnt to the ground late Monday night 3/12/07. Owner Dave McEachern had just installed a wood stove and went to have dinner at a friends house while his place warmed up. Upon returning to his house, he said he could see the fire through the trees.

Dave, a local carpenter, lost his home, shop, inventory and equipment in the fire. We will be placing donation cans in local business. Once we establish a collection point, we will gather donated items to help Dave through this difficult time.

The Salcha Fair Association will be having a meeting at the Cabin on the Fairgrounds, Tuesday Feb. 6th at 7 PM. Please feel free to attend. We have been making improvements through grants, donations and proceeds from activities and well memberships. We average about $90.00 a month for the Electric through the winter. The well use averages 1,500 to 2,500 a day. After the upgrade, the electric will increase due to a longer heat tape run. The benefit from the upgrade will be a faster delivery system for larger tanks and moving the point of service away from the well. We will be adding a Gazebo with stationary BBQ grills and putting in some more picnic tables out after breakup. As always, we are finding ways to provide Community Friendly programs and services. Salcha has always come together during a crisis, we want to provide the space to relax and enjoy the friendship we have with our neighbors. Hope to see some new faces this year.
