SALCHA FAIR OPERATION
GUIDELINES
Community Awareness and Education
The
SALCHA FAIR ASSOCIATION, INC seeks to highlight and enhance appreciation for
our unique community and our members. The annual Fair will do this by
showcasing competitive and commercial exhibits with wide community appeal and
cooperation. The Fair educates and entertains, all participants by providing
opportunities to share a rich variety of individual and community endeavors.
The Fair encourages and welcomes involvement by all.
Please
take time to read the Salcha Fair Guidelines below prior to filling out the
form. If you have any questions call Peggy Burns, President at (907) 488-4556.
We will be happy to assist you in any way possible to answer your questions and
address your concerns. The Fair will be held annually the last weekend in June.
The hours of the Fair are: Friday and Saturday 12 Noon to 8 PM and Sunday from 12 Noon to 6 PM.
Applications will be processes on a FIRST COME BASIS. Please return your applications
early. We will try to accommodate you in any reasonable way we can. Any
applications not filled out properly or clearly will be returned. Please take,
a few minutes to check it over before you mail it. Complete and clear
information will expedite your inclusion in the Fair. Confirmation of
application processing will be by postcard prior to June 6th and by phone call
after. Please feel free to contact Peggy Burns if for some reason you have not
received confirmation. Make sure to include a current address and phone number.
1. Spaces, table space, games, etc. must be compatible
with our country theme. Booths may be plywood, log, hay-bales, etc. Compatible
in this context means No Offensive
printed material or language. The Fair Association reserves the right to refuse any application and
can insist on immediate removal of any offensive booth, table or game.
2. ALL
BOOTHS MUST BE UP BY 10:30 AM ON FRIDAY MORNING. If you would like to make
arrangements to come Thursday night please give Peggy a call at 488-4556.
3. For
safety reasons ALL VEHICLES WILL BE OFF THE MIDWAY BY 11:30 AM! NO EXCEPTIONS!
4. No
motorized vehicles will be allowed on the fairgrounds during operating hours,
with the exception of Fair workers or entertainers with Fair Association
approval.
5. No animals,
except those used to aid the deaf or blind, or as a part of an exhibit or booth
AND with prior approval of the Fair Association will
be allowed on the fairground midway at any time. Those exceptions must be under
appropriate restraint and under complete control at all times.
6. NO ALCOHOL for personal consumption or consumption by Fair workers will be permitted during operating hours when responsible for a booth, table or game, etc. Alcohol will only be purchased and consumed in the beer garden. Anyone that causes problems will be asked to leave.
7. All
persons on the fairgrounds will have a ticket when entering the fairgrounds.
Anyone not having a ticket will be asked to purchase one or leave. Vendors will
be asked how many people will be accompanying them with their rented space.
8. Vendors,
traders and visitors are reminded that they are not to use any radios or TVs,
which can be heard on the midway or may interfere with the sound system during
the fair operation.
9. Selling
of any product outside of booth or table areas is strictly prohibited.
10. Any problems
noted before, during or after the Fair please notify the Fair Office
immediately. These problems can be but are not restricted to noise that is too
loud, midway blockage, any offensive behavior, etc.
11. Upon acceptance
all food concessions will be mailed an application for a temporary food service
permit. This application must be returned to the Sate of Alaska Department of
Health for approval. The approval along with your permit must be available for
viewing when you check in at the Fair Office prior to set up. The Department of
Health has stated that your applications
must be in to them and approved
two weeks prior to the date of the Fair. A representative from their office
will be on hand Friday prior to the opening of the Fair to inspect all food
booths. Any last minute food booths accepted by the Fair Association will have
an opportunity to get with the Health Inspector for submittal and payment for a
permit at that time. The Health Inspector only, not the Fair Association grants
approval of the permit.
12. All vendors must
supply their own tables, extension cords, and may choose to
accept an available booth space or may come and build their own.
13. Rendezvous
traders will be determined on an individual basis and all product sold
by them will be made exclusively by them or those renting the space. They will
be located off the midway with each person receiving a 25’ x 25’ space for
trading and living. No commercially made living accommodations or power may be
used.
14. NO COMMERCIALLY
MADE LIVING ACCOMMODATIONS WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE MIDWAY OF THE FAIRGROUNDS.
15. In all fairness to visitors to the fair, Vendors will
remain for the duration of the posted times and dates. Failure to remain
for the full time period will result in forfeiture of the $25.00 clean up
deposit.
16. If you are
willing to donate an item for our door prize drawing please indicate so in the remarks
section of the application. If you would drop off your donation at the Fair
Office during check in or upon set up it would be appreciated. We will then be
able to assess the number of drawings available each day of the fair. You will
be provided with a receipt upon request.
