The Well is flowing at the Fairgrounds
The well has been tested. Results.... Good!!!
There are still a few bugs to work out, but for all practical purposes, it is ready to go. A exterior light will be installed to facilitate access this winter, and hopefully prevent any further break-in's at the Fairgrounds Building. Over the past two weeks, the Fair Building has been broken into twice and about a half a dozen FRS radios were stolen. Thankfully the criminals were thoughtful enough not to vandalize the building, or it's contents.
When using the well, please use your own hose and disconnect it when your done. The valve is designed to drain itself when it's turned off, but the hose must be removed. It requires a standard hose bib connection. The well is located directly behind the fair building.
The water is flowing in Salcha
But this time it's a good thing
The Jake Partridge Well is pumping water.
Clear and cold with a good flow.
Currently we have a diaphragm pump running to developed the cavity, a 1/2 Horsepower electric pump will replace that when the well house is built. The well was driven by Bob Holmes and Fred Markgraf, the well casings were acquired by Steve Goldman and the diaphragm pump was donated by M&J Rentals. Once everything is in place the public can get water from the Fairgrounds year round.
Thank You so much for the wonderful memorial to our nephew Jake Partridge. He will always be special in our hearts and it is nice to know that he is so well remembered by others. Thank you again. Jim and Sandi Partridge
As Jake Partridge's older brother, I am extremely touched that you good people have named your new well after him, especially since it's something that gives life. The next time I visit Salcha, I want to drink a glass of the Jake Partridge water that flows from it. Again, I am eternally grateful for your compassion. Thank you very much. Just to let you know, I am writing, producing, directing, and editing a stylistic documentary about Jake. Since I am currently enrolled at The Art Institute of Seattle, I thought I could use my skills to honor my brother in my own way. It would be nice to hear of any stories you might have of him. As part of my production, I will be coming up to Alaska to shoot some footage for this project. It would be great to interview those who new him, especially you Steve. If you have any stories, please e-mail me at: misteradamedward@hotmail.com Sincerely, Adam E. Partridge
If you only knew how special Jake Partridge was to me and my family.......we love you Jakie! R. Wood
