    To the editor:

    Salcha-Build a better community-volunteer.

The Salcha Community Center Committee is seeking neighbors to help develop the Salcha Community Center, Wednesday, March 12, 2008, 7:00p.m. at the Salcha Senior Center.

Salcha needs a sustainable, multi-use Community Center. The Salcha Fair Association has the nonprofit status and (thanks to the Borough), the land to provide for a Community Center. Nonprofit associations have the responsibility to their community to supply services or products at a lower cost than a for-profit business can. The nonprofit status allows for many advantages with an expectation that the community will benefit from their activities.

Salcha has definitely felt the benefit from the well and playground installed at the Salcha Fair grounds over the last seven years, through the efforts of volunteers. One out of three of our neighbors in Salcha live without household plumbing or good water. Shower and laundry facilities are needed as desperately as water was needed six years ago. Our children have no dedicated facilities and they deserve a safe place to gather for clubs and educational activities. Salcha, youth and adults, need a community library to connect us with our families, our universities, our government and the world.

Now, it's time to build a Salcha Community Center. Be a part of the process, the creativity. Be there, Wednesday, March 12, 2008; 7:00p.m. at the Salcha Senior Center.

    From Neighbor for Neighbor.

    Peace,

    Melissa Wills-Markgraf
