The meeting started at 7:10pm by Carolyn L.

Topics:

·       Senior account is $40,297.71

·       Pull-tab account is $16,295.61

·       Bingo account is $424.42

Bob Eggleston motion to accept the account and Cindy Jeffries second it. 

·       The health dept. will be at the senior building on October 24 from 10:30 until noon.  Need to bring their Medicaid and Medicare card with them.  Low income doesn’t pay, seniors don’t pay, and others are on sliding scale.

Rhonda Procell:

·       Read old business

·       Reminded everyone about the senior dinner/bingo on Saturday, October 20.  Dinner at 5:30($7.00) and Bingo at 6:30 ($12.50).  Bonfire and fireworks afterwards.  No small children.  Will have flyers and signs posted.  We need desserts!!

Cindy Jeffries:

·       Getting a shuttle bus in Salcha.  What is needed like insurance, volunteers to drive, commercial license, and housing the bus, etc.  Needs to send out a survey to everyone to see how many are interested in having a bus in Salcha to take not only the seniors but everyone interested to the doctor, and shopping, etc.  Cindy is looking into this more and will give us the information at our next meeting.

·       Karen Wood wasn’t able to attend our meeting due to bad roads.  She is checking with the North Pole/Fairbanks seniors about having dinner with the salcha seniors sometime in Jan/Feb.

Angelique Gordon:

·       Talked about our permit being loaned to the Lions Club so they can pay us a percentage of a raffle.  Jan Owen-Denton motion for Angelique to investigate this more and Bob Eggelston second it.

Bob Egglston:

·       He wanted to know if anyone had talked to the borough or state about lowering the speed limit back to 55mph.  Carolyn Lincoln said to him” that he needed to have someone make up a petition and have the people in the Salcha area (schools, parents, seniors and the community) sign it.  Carolyn Lincoln is going to ask Jackie Beck about writing up the petition.

He also needed to have a chairperson and committee to be in charge and investigate this option.  Mick Sunter-Storey was nominated to be the chair-person. It was motioned by Jan Owen-Denton and second by Phyllis Stern.

·       Getting a Representative in the Salcha area and becoming incorporated so we can get the money we deserve in our area.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:40PM.  It was motioned by Bob Eggleston and second by Angelique Gordon.
