1. Completed paperwork and Morrie Mills uploaded to Salcha.org, Community Center Committee; (i.e. By-laws, Planning Process, Development Plan, etc.)
2. Began soliciting volunteers to provide the information for the Development Plan. Several people have been solicited to assist with insight in the planning of the specialized area of the Community Center, (i.e. historical, library, stage, exercise area, etc.).
3. Began contacting "Stakeholders" soliciting involvement (i.e. Alyeaska, Am. Diabetes Ass.).Note: the Food Banks request regarding food boxes.
4. Invited to and personally meet with Rep. Kawasaki regarding S.F.A. community plans. I spoke about a co-op insurance company servicing N.P. organizations. Follow up is necessary.
5. Received confirmation that United Way Volunteer Coordinator, Beverly Fantazzi, will quest speak at the May 22; meeting regarding How Non-profits and volunteers can service a community like no other.
6. Salcha Seniors will be under constructional repairs until after August. All Community Center Committee meetings will need to be held at the Fair Office Building through these months.
7. The May 22 meeting will be used as a celebration; the COMMUNITY CENTER COOKOUT. I have entertainment, a guest speaker, we will be seeking signatures of supporters, display all the information gathered, offer and collect surveys, confirm committee board members; and award a 'Certificate of Appreciation' to Peggy Burns and Morrie Mills Just notified me 4-15 that he will be out of state on personal business), we want to recognize their unfailing commitment to their neighbors and their community. It is expected to last from 7p-9p. I will be personally calling every number listed on the petitions.
8. I ask that we seek donations to supply hotdogs or chicken, paper supplies, a large koolaid, grapes and maybe chips. Donations for salads and desserts will also be solicited from local supporters.
9. I ask that Morrie Mills insure the new P A system is working for that night. We need someone who wants to learn and run the P A system, someone who wants to grill, someone who wants to keep the punch bowl full, someone who will solicit for the food donations from stores and neighbors, someone who wants to decorate and people to help clean up.
10 The Community Center Petition is currently at the Mid-way Lodge. We expect to spend approximately one month at each of the Salcha Businesses. We hope that each month the excitement will continue to raise.
11. The first draft of the bubble design should be ready to present for suggestions at the Community Center Cookout.
12. Searching for a technical artist who can help with renditions of creative designs.
13. Searching for artist of all kinds to assist in ideas for inside, outside and website.
14. Searching for volunteers that work well as a team.
